One of my first projects using cardboard type stuff.
To be honest, I have no idea of the actual specs on the material I used. It’s just a sheet of something that came with the laser. Some trial and error to figure out the proper settings for a solid engraving and a non-sooty cut and I was off to the races.
The design came from Creative Fabrica, a massive online depository of vector images and such. I’ve barely broken the surface of that in the last couple of days. If you buy a, to be honest, modestly priced subscription, you get the commercial rights to reproduce most of the stuff on the site.

There really is no end to ideas with this hobby. I started with bookmarks because the wife, A, is always reading a book (or two).
The current brownish colour is nice enough I suppose, but is makes me think that I need to invest is some cardboard type stuff in different colours. Maybe make a dual layer bookmark using different colours and glue them together. This of course makes me think that I will need more organized storage for all of the supplies that will inevitably be needed for this hobby.
Side note: When I took the picture for this post, I also started thinking about a small product photo tent with proper lighting and such. Off to google and more than likely Amazon…
